The Increasing Popularity of the Laptop Computer
A computer is a necessity in the twenty first century, for documenting our ideas and thoughts with text and drawings, but laptops are becoming the personal computing platform of choice. The laptop, once used more as a luxury computer, is now considered the norm for technology and is even changing our work habits.
A lot of individuals are on the move and now have the ability to take their work with them wherever they go. Perfect for those who have desktop computers at work, laptops are also perfect for those doing their work from home. A huge selling point of compact size or even smaller notebooks is the power which they have which is required by the users. A flexible circuit board is just one of many technologies used into laptops that make them more flexible than PC's.
In the United States, the sales and rentals of laptop computer began an increase over sales of desktop PC's from the beginning of 2005. Pricing drops and the extension of wide area network technologies are increasing the popularity of laptops. It is predicted by 2011, laptops will be counted for more than half of the computers shipped all over the world and will take the place of PC's in the business and home computer settings.
Among 258 million personal computers that purchased in 2007, 60% were desktop models according to Gartner Group. The call for the desktop models increased about 7%, while the sales of laptop computers increased by approximately 19% in 2008. This double digit growth is forecast through 2010 and possibly even further. These numbers are nice for many Flexible circuit manufacturers whom make possible, the technology for the notebooks.
Some of the reasons why the popularity among laptop users increases daily are their portability, smaller size, and lower price tag. You would have paid double the price of your desktop model for a laptop in 2002. During 2007, the gap began to close, with a mere $ 300 to $ 500 difference between both, depending on the brand. The computers electronics and the amount of power available must be taken into account before selecting the laptop which fulfills your needs best. If you are still unable to decided whether to purchase a desktop or laptop computer, try out a rental laptop instead, as this will give you some hands on experience before you chose to buy one.
Upgrading PC Components...?
Ok I have an Acer Aspire X3200. With the 8550 CPU, 1TB HDD, 4 GB's of RAM and 64-bit O.S (Operating System) blah blah... That said is a great lil compact desktop being able to run nearly everything. But when it comes to games being on-board graphics I cant play the games I really want at max. I want to buy the BFG Geforce 295 GTX along with a suitable PSU (Power Supply) and Full ATX Case. The case in question is the http://www.yoyotech.co.uk/gigabyte-aurora-black-with-window-full-tower-case-p-1338578.html . Will this all work?
Thanks in advance!!!
It should work - I believe your computer only has a PCIe 1.0 x16 slot and not a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot. Your card might hit the bandwidth cap of a PCIe 1.0 x16 slot because it's so powerful - but don't quote me on that one. I'm not actually sure.
That won't stop the card from working in your computer anyways.
As for the power supply, I would get an OCZ GameXStream - I've had good experiences with them.
The case should be fine, but I always like to go with the good old Antec Nine Hundred. Just a matter of personal preference.
