Healthy Retirement Is Good For The Heart
Positive physical and mental health improvements may be achieved after retirement. Some people discover that they have the time to create better relationships that make them healthier than ever.
One couple traded city life for country life and spends more time with their grand kids than they ever did before the move.
He was not out buying mountain bike because he inherited one from the former owners when he bought the place by the small lake. He spruced it up and used it to check mail at the end of the long driveway.
The kids and grandchildren never expected to see him on a schwinn mountain bike. They were delighted to join him on rides and clearing old and new bike trails.
Retirement means that he is spending more time in the kitchen to work on those recipes he never got around to during his working years. Cooking is a hobby that he wants to explore.
In the evening he breaks out the dreadnought acoustic guitar and makes another connection with the grandkids. Music pulls them together in new ways.
His wife does not care for the mountain bikes but loves the lake. She participated in a local kayak course and purchased one. Now they store several to share with the kids and grandchildren.
They did not sit down with a plan to bike, paddle, garden, or cut brush to improve their physical health. They did not just change their life. They changed their lifestyle.
They credit their fitness to the active life they lead. They are convinced that their exercise and diet are the reason there is nothing stronger than headache medicine in the house.
The move meant they might see less of their family but they were wrong. The healthiest benefit has been the visits from their relatives. Their country home is a destination that equals hours of fun and shared activities.
They spend more time sharing activities and life with their family members than they did when everyone lived in the same town. They use the new internet connection to keep in touch and have added a blog.
They have downloaded recipes to try, gardening tips, and checked out groomed trails in the area for the mountain bikes.
They joined a social site and created profiles. Many old friends and all of the relatives have discovered them online. They have relatives they barely knew as friends and make new ones daily.
You may find that you now have the time to connect or reconnect with others in a more meaningful way. It does not take a new location to tackle new hobbies that enhance your physical and mental well-being.
