NAME TAGS – HOW TO IDENTIFY THE BEST OPTIONS
Ask any conference organiser.....it’s the little things that take up the most time.
It’s the seemingly small things like name badges or lanyards that are so often the cause of much stress and anxiety in the build-up to an important event. Sorting out name tags or ID cards for delegates is a deceptively simple task – and organisers often leave it too late, with a very unsatisfactory outcome.
It’s also easy to dismiss the importance of the type of name badge chosen for a particular event because it’s perceived to be such a minor element...but it’s not, In fact, the choice of name tag is a clear and tangible indicator for participants as to what they can expect – and give a very clear message about the level of professionalism and attention to detail offered by the organisers. If the identification cards or name tags are poor quality, hard to read or difficult to attach without damaging delegates’ clothing and if the spelling or designations on the cards is incorrect, then it’s very likely that a poor first impression will have been created. First impressions are lasting impressions – and a smart, professional id card or name badge has an important role to play in ensuring that that initial impact is positive.
The trick is to have sufficient supplies of high quality identity products on hand BEFORE the last-minute rush sets in, so that you’re well-prepared to sort out whatever name tags etc are required.
The easiest and simplest way of purchasing these is online – just make sure you’re buying from a supplier with a proven reputation for quality and after-sales support. Whether you’re looking for conference cards in which to insert individual names, coloured tyvek wristbands for quick and easy identification (also great for parties to deter uninvited guests), clips or coloured lanyards – you’re bound to find a product that will suit your needs. All you’ll need to do is to find five minutes in your hectic schedule to sit down and order them!
We have to wear name tag with first and last name in high school kitchen. Can they make us wear it?
I have nothing against wearing a name tag at work, but for a high school lunch lady, can they make us wear it if it has our last name also. Some people don't want the last name for one reason or another. I have never seen a waitress or anyone in food service have their last name on the name tag. Can they do this ? Maybe in a bank or perhaps an airport... Also, shouldn't the custodians also in our union have to wear one? I have e-mailed my union but have no answer from them yet so I've been trying other sources ...
Hey Audrey,
You must be a hoot and a holler to work with!
What's the problem? Shouldn't you worry about other things like how often people are washing their hands, who isn't wearing a hairnet, who's not rotating stock.... !
But if you must, it would be perfectly acceptable to most authorities to list only your first name and last initial. Most Hospitals do this for their nursing staff. Oh, wait, that was only in the Psych ward....
Oh yeah, same thing.

Editorial: Sony's Biggest Mistake Of 2011 (Game Informer)
Despite releasing some big name exclusives, 2011 was a rough year for Sony.
The company's lackluster security led to one of the worst hacking scandals in
recent history, and its solution to motion-controlled gaming fell flat in
light of nearly nonexistent support. But these disappointments pale in my mind
to the company's failure to capitalize on three little words.
Play, Create, Share. It's a tag line Sony coined alongside the first
LittleBigPlanet, one that wasn't just supposed to be a flashy slogan, but a
new way to play video games. It was meant to be a feather in Sony's cap - one
the company could certainly use.
**The LittleBigPlanet series provides virtually unlimited replayability**
Sony doesn't have a lot to differentiate itself from the competition nowadays.
The allure of free online gaming lost some of its luster when the company's
network went down for almost a month and countless users had their personal
information stolen. Move, while probably the most accurate form of motion-
based gaming on the market, hasn't had any compelling releases to justify the
peripheral's existence. Sony has pushed 3D gaming hard in recent months, but
you don't need a Sony television or ...
